Batik Asian Cuisine and Dumpling Bar is a unique dine-in and take-out eatery located in the Kentlands in Gaithersburg, Maryland. We specialize in providing a variety of delicious Asian flavors in a variety of dishes. Our cuisine is colorful and flavorful while also simple and traditional.
Our name, Batik, is inspired by beautiful fabrics from Asia. “Batik” is a Javanese word, pronounced buh-TEEK or BAT-ick. It refers to a type of fabric traditional to Indonesia, with colorful designs. The fabric is given its designs by using wax to cover some sections while dying the other sections, and then dissolving the wax. The result is a beautifully colored and patterned cloth.
Inspired by the batik style, our Asian fusion restaurant offers a variety of colorful and flavorful dishes made to inspire and delight. We specialize in homemade dumplings filled with ground lean meat and ground veggies . . . they are small bundles of joy! Our dumpling bar is extensive, and there is something for everyone, from small snacks to large meals. In addition, we cook a variety of Asian staples such as curries, rice and noodles, soups, pad thai, meat and tofu dishes, spicy and sweet dishes, and much, much more.
