Indonesian School “Duta Teruna” Yangon was originally founded as a diplomatic school. Its purpose was to provide primary and high school education for the children of the Indonesian Embassy staff and Indonesian families living in Myanmar. Therefore, the school implemented the Indonesian curriculum with Indonesian language as the tool of communication and Indonesian-language books as the source for the teaching and learning process.
When the school changed in 2004 to become the Indonesian International School
Yangon (IISY), it started taking students from Myanmar and other international communities in Yangon. With the change there was a need to upgrade all aspects of the curriculum to that of an internationally acceptable standard.
