About Tasya's Kitchen

The towns of Dover, Somersworth, and Rochester in New Hampshire's Seacoast region are home to one of the largest concentrations of Indonesian residents in the United States, a community built up over several decades around the area's mills and healthcare employers. Tasya's Kitchen serves that community from a converted house at 230 High Street in Somersworth, where the kitchen and a small dining room are divided by a partition that keeps the space feeling like someone's home rather than a commercial storefront.

The menu runs to roughly two dozen dishes drawn from across the Indonesian archipelago. Beef rendang, slow-cooked in coconut milk and spices until the sauce reduces to a thick, dark coating, is one of the kitchen's most praised items. Satay skewers, nasi goreng, mie goreng, gado-gado with its peanut dressing, and mie bakso, a meatball noodle soup, round out the regular rotation. The restaurant makes its own sambal in house, along with some of its sauces and beverages, and also stocks a small retail selection of Indonesian snacks, teas, and instant ramen for customers who want to cook at home. Reviewers have noted that the spice levels run milder than what some expect from Indonesian cooking, which may reflect an effort to suit a broader New England clientele alongside the Indonesian regulars.

The restaurant is one of only two Indonesian establishments identified in New Hampshire, the other being Bali Sate House, also located in Somersworth. In 2026 Tasya's Kitchen expanded beyond New Hampshire for the first time, opening a second counter inside Novo Marketplace, a newly opened international food hall at 122 Brighton Avenue in Boston's Allston neighborhood, with that location slated to open in late May. The Somersworth restaurant, which predates the Boston expansion and remains the original location, continues to operate under the same ownership.

Hours are listed as Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 7 pm and Sunday from noon to 5 pm, with Monday closed, though these have not been independently confirmed beyond a single restaurant-directory listing.
