The school gives its founding as 6 October 1963, following a ministerial decree that year. Some accounts place informal teaching a year earlier, in 1962, under Rosa Siddik as the first head. Kindergarten classes were added from January 1964.

Provision now runs from early years, covering PAUD and TK, through SD at primary level, SMP at junior secondary and SMA at senior secondary, which is kindergarten to the end of school under one roof. Senior students take either the science or the social studies track, matching the structure used across Indonesia. Teaching follows the Indonesian national curriculum, and the school lists both Kurikulum Merdeka and the earlier Kurikulum 2013 among its materials, adapted where being outside Indonesia requires it.

Activity extends past lessons. The school enters international academic competitions, including the Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad, runs scouting weekends, and provides student performances for the embassy's cultural events in Bangkok. Being on embassy grounds gives pupils the use of shared facilities such as a sports hall.
