About Mandiri International Remittance (Bank Mandiri)

Mandiri International Remittance Sdn. Bhd., marketed to customers as Mandiri Remit, is a Kuala Lumpur-based remittance company wholly owned by PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, Indonesia's largest bank by assets. Bank Negara Malaysia has licensed the firm since 2009 as a Principal Money Services Business operator and a Class B remittance provider, and it is registered with Malaysia's Companies Commission under SSM number 850077P. Its head office occupies the ground and mezzanine floors of Wisma MEPRO at 29 and 31 Jalan Ipoh, and the company runs more than a dozen branches spread across Peninsular Malaysia, with reported plans to add locations in Sabah and Sarawak, including Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, and Kuching, to reach Indonesian workers on Borneo.

The company's core business is moving money from Malaysia back to Indonesia for the country's migrant workers, whom the Indonesian embassy in Kuala Lumpur estimates to number in the hundreds of thousands across Malaysia. In the second half of 2024 it launched the Mandiri Remit mobile app, which lets customers transfer funds not only to Indonesia but to nine other countries, including Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, India, and Bangladesh, at what the company describes as competitive exchange rates. Through the wider Livin' by Mandiri platform, migrant workers can also open an Indonesian savings account without visiting a branch.

Beyond transfers, the company operates a payment channel, introduced in May 2021, that lets migrant workers settle their BPJS Ketenagakerjaan contributions, Indonesia's mandatory workplace social security scheme, at any of its Malaysian branches after registering through the BPJS mobile app; press coverage has described it as the only Indonesian bank offering this service inside Malaysia. It also runs the Mandiri Sahabatku program, active since 2007, which provides financial literacy and basic entrepreneurship training to migrant workers ahead of their return to Indonesia. Company-reported figures put annual remittance transactions above 80,000 as of 2024, serving more than 100,000 customer accounts, the large majority of them held by Indonesian migrant workers across Malaysia. A direct phone line for the head office was not independently confirmed and is left blank here pending further verification.
