Padangs on Wheels began as a food truck before growing into a small chain of sit-down restaurants in the Klang Valley, with outlets now in Shah Alam, Subang Bestari and, since August 2022, a corner-lot restaurant in Damansara Utama (also known as Damansara Uptown), Petaling Jaya. The business specializes in nasi padang, the Minangkabau style of West Sumatran cooking in which a large spread of lauk, or side dishes, is laid out for diners to choose from rather than served as a single fixed plate.

At the Damansara Utama branch, the dish display has included ayam berlado (fried chicken in chili sauce), rendang daging (slow-cooked beef in spiced coconut gravy), gulai vegetable curries, begedil potato patties, gorengan fried snacks, and ikan masin berlado, salted fish finished with chili. Two house sambals, a fiery sambal merah and a milder sambal hijau, are served alongside the lauk. Dishes are plated hidang-style, in small individual servings rather than one shared platter, which the restaurant has marketed as well suited to groups of diners who want to sample a wide range of dishes at once. Beyond the regular menu, the restaurant has in the past run a Ramadan buffet format offering several types of rice alongside dozens of Minang side dishes, along with desserts such as kuih, es teler and bubur manis, though that format is seasonal and not necessarily offered year-round.

The restaurant occupies a converted corner lot and the adjoining unit on Jalan SS 21/62, finished with white walls and warm lighting, in the Damansara Utama area of Petaling Jaya, a neighborhood with a dense concentration of cafes and restaurants. The business can be reached by phone for reservations, particularly for its buffet service, and is active on Instagram under the handle padangsonwheels. Local press coverage from 2023 described the restaurant as founded and run by a pair of sisters cooking from their grandmother's recipes, continuing a family style of Padang cooking rather than a standardized commercial menu.
