Indonesia's embassy in Singapore sits on Chatsworth Road in Tanglin, a quiet residential district close to Orchard Road that is also home to a cluster of other countries' diplomatic missions. The compound covers more than ten thousand square meters and includes, alongside the four-story chancery building, official residences for the ambassador and deputy ambassador, staff housing, a mosque, and recreational facilities that include a tennis court and swimming pool, giving the embassy a campus-like footprint that is larger than most of Indonesia's other missions abroad.

Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Singapore trace back to 1950, when Singapore was still a British crown colony and Mohamad Razif served as Indonesia's first consul general there; formal relations with the independent Republic of Singapore began in September 1967, a month after both countries became founding members of ASEAN. Ambassador Suryopratomo, who presented his credentials in November 2020, currently leads the mission.

The embassy's consular section handles passport renewal and new issuance, including emergency travel documents, along with visa processing, document legalization, and civil registrations such as births, marriages, and deaths for the Indonesian community in Singapore. It also provides labor-related assistance and legal and welfare support to Indonesian migrant workers, a significant part of its caseload given the size of that community on the island. Office hours run Monday through Thursday from 8:30 in the morning until 1:00 in the afternoon and again from 2:00 to 5:00, with Friday shortened to 8:30 until 12:30 and 2:30 to 5:00.

Beyond consular services, the embassy organizes cultural and community programming, including open house gatherings during Idul Fitri and an annual Independence Day flag-raising ceremony each August 17th performed by a Paskibra troop drawn from Sekolah Indonesia Singapura, the Indonesian school elsewhere in the directory. The embassy compound's size relative to Indonesia's other missions reflects both the age of the posting, among the country's oldest overseas, and the practical need to house consular staff, security personnel, and their families on site in a city where housing costs are high and diplomatic land grants are difficult to expand once granted.
